Karan Johar is currently busy basking in the success of his directorial comeback Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Over the past few days he has opened up about the project and what inspired him to make such a movie. Days after revealing the the relationship between Rocky and Rani was loosely based on the bond Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar share, he has now spoken about how a real-life family event inspired Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi’s infidelity track in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

During a conversation with ace designer Prabal Gurung, Karan also shared how he is obsessed with the idea of infidelity. Talking about an incident that happened in his family, he shared that an 80-year-old family member of his had dementia and had gone back to his past love. Being a married man, he kept on taking the name of an 84-year-old lady, who was also a family member. His wife was 79-years-old. Further explaining the scandal, he shared, “There was drama happening in and around this situation... and I remember instead of feeling terrible for what was happening between these three people at an average age of 82... Speaking about his obsession with the concept of infidelity, he recalled how someone had asked him why he was endorsing the concept when he made a movie on it. For the unversed, the movie he is talking about is Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, co-starring Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan and Preity Zinta. At the time of its release, the movie was way ahead of its time and was not very well-received by the audiences. Further recalling how he reacted to that statement, he said, “I am like, 'You cannot endorse something that has already sold out!' Just emotionally speaking, I am always intrigued by the idea of infidelity and how it can be a reality. On the work front, he recently made his directorial comeback with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The movie was celebrated by the critics as well as the audiences for its on point casting, songs as well as the necessary topics it addressed.
